Mariah Carey had a Mercury retrograde moment in the form of a technical glitch at Dick Clark’s New Year Rockin Eve with Ryan Seacrest. The multi-time Grammy award winner came out to her rendition of Auld Lang Syne, the classic New Year’s folk song. What happened next was chaos. Mariah looked sensational in a body suit but her ear piece wasn’t working and she couldn’t hear the music she was supposed to sing to. You could hear the the track minus the lyrics — she wasn’t planning to lip sync the song as some have suggested — she simply couldn’t hear the music playing so there was no way she could have sang to it.
