…and Happy Hallmark Birthday Greetings to the memory of the US President who came straight from central casting … “The Gipper,” as he was known as an actor. Ronald Reagan was a fervent champion of the stars and he was probably astrology’s most powerful ally and its highest-ranking subscriber. As governor of California, Reagan removed astrologers from the classification of fortune tellers under state law and by doing so he allowed them to earn compensation for their work. He and his lovely, dainty Cancerian wife Nancy took a lot of flak for giving credence to astrology by consulting their personal astrologer Joan Quigley. In true thespian fashion, when asked about his astrological musings, Reagan brushed it off, saying something to the effect of, “Well, (almost everything Reagan uttered began with a ‘well’) Nancy and I may peek at the horoscopes in the Sunday paper but I don’t see any harm in that…”

Ronald Reagan’s far-out Uranian views were patently Aquarian; he shrunk gov’t and tried to give more power to the people until it dawned on him how much gov’t and big business controlled society. He was very forward-thinking and open minded. George Bush was picked as his running mate because Bush is a Gemini and a fellow air sign to Reagan’s Aquarianism.

Reagan was the Teflon president who could take a lot of flak but nothing would stick; perhaps it was because he was the quintessential politician; his was a commanding presence and he always spoke in the here and now. Indeed, his selective memory was endearing in a way because he could almost hear no evil, see no evil; but of course history records that he helped vanquish the evil of the Cold War. Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev, two men who were born at the very end of the zodiac wheel, an Aquarian and a Piscean, both helped to bring the Cold War to an end. I don’t know if it’s true or not but I remember hearing a story about Reagan — in his meetings with Gorbachev, he’d jot down on napkins that sometimes he wished we’d be visited by little green aliens from outer space so that we humans can realize and see what was so simple and obvious to him: that we are all truly the same. Mr. Reagan’s Uranian views were far ahead of this thing that we call time.
